Visit Edinburgh

Festival weekend brings lots of opportunities and a chance to explore our beautiful and historic city. Here are a couple of ideas to get your trip itinerary started. If you are looking for ideas let us know on our social media and we'll share our recommendations.

Our Venue

The Scottish Storytelling Centre, as well as being a piece of history itself, is in the middle of the historic Royal Mile which stretches from Edinburgh Castle to the Scottish Parliament. You'll feel like you've stepped through time as you explore it's side streets.

Film & TV

Edinburgh has featured in many films, from Trainspotting to Fast and Furious 9. You'll spot the inspiration for Harry Potter in the buildings and the streets. Crime fiction fans will recognise the pubs Detective Rebus frequents or if you love Outlander you'll find Jamie's print shop around the corner from the Royal Mile.

Food

Want to sample Haggis, Neeps and Tatties, Arbroath Smokies or Cullen Skink? You'll find plenty of places to sample traditional Scottish treats. Or if that doesn't appeal, we know a really good chicken wings place a five minute walk away from our venue...

Whisky

Fans of a dram won't have to look far. The Scotch Whisky Experience contains the world's largest whisky collection.

New to the city is The Johnnie Walker Experience is a brand new visitor centre set across 8 floors on Princes Street.

And there are plenty of excellent whisky bars across the city in which to enjoy a dram.
