The Movie allows you to direct and act at the same time using scenic painting, genre, and narration.


Learn how to set up a shot using different camera angles.


Describe a character's look, motivation, and intention.


Then play the characters. Make a movie!

Billy Merritt

Billy Merritt’s been performing, teaching and directing at the UCB since its inception in 1997. Co-founding legendary Improv groups The Swarm and The Stepfathers in New York, and The Smokes in Los Angeles. He's developed many Improvised Longforms [with the help of his students] such as The Documentary, Improvised One Acts, Murder Murder, and the Garfunkel.


Billy got his TV start on UCB’s Comedy Central show, which led to multiple appearances on Late Night With Conan O’Brien, Best Week Ever, Reno 911 and a plethora of other shows. Billy’s the voice of Fryman from Cartoon Network’s Steven Universe, and host of Jameson’s Radio Network. Billy is a native Floridian and proudly maintains a Florida Man lifestyle.
